World Abdominal Cancer Day to be held on May 19, Begin with Event Calendar Launch

The primary aim of this initiative is to educate the general public about the symptoms of abdominal cancer, the importance of timely screening, and the available treatment options. The multi-city walk happening in 25+ cities on the same day will send out a strong and unified message against cancer.

A special event calendar launch was held on Tuesday at Fortis Hospital, marking the beginning of this 45-day mega awareness drive. The event witnessed participation from health experts and specialists from renowned organizations like Abdominal Cancer Trust, Fortis Hospital, and IIEMR. The event poster highlighted early symptoms of cancer, the necessity of regular check-ups, and the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Present at the event calendar launch were Dr. Bishnu Panigrahi, Group Head, MSOG, Fortis Hospital; Dr. Manish Agarwal, Director, Fortis Hospital; Dr. S. S. Sharma, Head of Gastroenterology; Dr. Manikant Jain, Medical Superintendent; Dr. Sandeep Jain, Founder of Abdominal Cancer Trust and Abdominal Cancer Day; Mukesh Mishra, Director of Institute of Event Management (IIEMR); and Advocate Kamlesh Sharma, Chief Coordinator.

Dr. Sandeep Jain, founder of Abdominal Cancer Trust and Abdominal Cancer Day, emphasized that the battle against cancer is fought not only through treatment but also through awareness. He added that awareness is the first step to defeating this disease, and through timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment, countless lives can be saved. He noted that abdominal cancer is a dangerous and life-threatening illness, and with collective efforts and public participation, awareness can be increased, leading to early detection and life-saving treatments.

Mr. Mukesh Mishra, Director of the Institute of Event Management (IIEMR), shared details of the programs, stating that a series of awareness events will be organized leading up to World Abdominal Cancer Day. On May 19, a panel discussion focusing on colon cancer will be held, while on May 18, multi-city walks will be organized in over 25 cities worldwide, aimed at promoting messages of good health and wellness.
